Grow house uses

Main Post:

Hey all, šŸ‘‹šŸ½ How different is a grow house (picture attached) to a greenhouse?! It mentions protecting seedlings and young plants but can it be used to grow things that would normally be in a greenhouse? I’m based in Scotland and don’t have the ability to get a greenhouse atm. Thanks

Top Comment: It will protect less than a proper greenhouse, but still some. Be careful because they get super hot with any amount of direct sun, I keep mine open during the day unless it's cloudy and cold. I have mine up against the South side of my house with a heat mat for the more sensitive seedlings and so far so good, but I have a much milder climate.

So is it a greenhouse or a grow house?

Main Post:

I was paying particular attention to this because I was trying to figure out what setup Janelle was envisioning, i.e., hoop houses? Were they planning to use water from the pond in the greenhouses? Did she want tillable soil for a garden and didn't want to be burdened with tree removal or rocky soil? That kind of thing.

Janelle mentioned a farm-to-table restaurant and "greenhouses."

But then Kody referred to "grow houses."

According to Wikipedia:

A grow house is a property, usually located in a suburban residential neighbourhood, that is primarily used for the production of marijuana.

So I got to thinking, "The laws are changing; I wonder if you can legally grow marijuana in Arizona?" And lo and behold, you can! You can even go to Tempe and buy a nifty little marijuana grow hut kit.

Then I thought, "I wonder if you can do that in Utah?" Alas, no. In Utah, it’s illegal to cultivate, grow, sell or possess marijuana. Utah has some of the strictest marijuana laws in the country and doesn’t recognize marijuana as a legal recreational drug or for its medicinal purposes.

Mmmm hmmm

It could have just been a slip of the tongue on Kody's part and he meant to refer to greenhouses. But it could also be the reason a move to Utah is off the table for some.

Top Comment: I think Kody is just an idiot and misspoke. Growing cannabis is a scientific, labor intensive process and I really don’t see Janelle doing that.

How does a home previously having been a Marijuana grow house affect the property?

Main Post:

Will there be a potential mold issue? Does anyone have experience with this? What are some questions/concerns to be had?

Also, if this is the wrong sub for this, let me know. I'm asking for a friend looking at a house she's interested in buying.

Thank you!

Top Comment: There is usually substantial power available and HVAC in places like the basement, garage, or barn/shop if thats a bonus at all for a second unit or shop or home theatre or grow room wait....

Warehouse or Grow House?

Main Post:

Looking for pro opinions on which I should try to get into. We’re looking to move into a house to rent in grow in, it’d be about $2200 a month to rent a house in my area.

However, I’ve found some warehouses around $1000 a month and I’ve also been suggested to look into a commercial space to grow.

I’m trying to do 30 plants a grow minimum, which would be my best option in terms of safety, practicality, possibility of landlord being nosey, and any other things I haven’t listed being considered?

Money is not an issue, I have plenty of capital either way I go.

Top Comment: Figure out the temp in the warehouse you want. Difference between Insulation / central air in residential vs no insulation and no heat/AC is likely going to move your numbers around quite a bit.

So what do we think about Growhouse?

Greenhouse/Growhouse starting out

Main Post:

So we have a garden full of lovely beds of flowers and herbs I've brought on for about 2 years now and I'm starting to toy with the idea of growing from seed to reduce shop bought products. I'm a complete beginner so what do I need without breaking the bank? A raised bed is going in for fruits/veggies and I have a small bit of space for a greenhouse (a tiny walk in one maybe but as I said beginner)

What is the difference between a greenhouse/growhouse? Any advice on avoiding rookie errors? All advice appreciated!

Top Comment: Seed trays, plenty of them šŸ˜„ https://www.arboretum.ie/shop/products/gardening/germination-and-propagation/seed-trays-and-propagators/page-1.html If you are going to try heat loving veg like tomatoe or cucumber, i would highly advise to get a heated propogator. Works wonders for germination, and gets you off to a good start. https://www.growshop.ie/product/essentials-heated-propagator-stewarts We generally start all our stuff indoors, once they germinate and the conditions are right out they go... You mike Like Charles Dowding: https://youtu.be/tYYKH7bxCYg?feature=shared A growhouse is generally just a smaller version of a greenhouse.....But you hear them used interchangably, i think our AMER friend use growhouse alot..

Prices and pics look good but don't know if they are legit!

Top Comment: Legit but as far as their prices I thought they seemed over priced.
